Learn the basics and fundamentals of running and walking. Your four-stage program will get you started on a safe way of running or walking, as well as assist you in increasing your overall health profile. Our objective is to not only get you on the path to an active lifestyle but to help educate you on how to establish long-term health and fitness goals. By the end of the 8-week program, you will be prepared to participate in any of our fun local 5K races.

For this class, 1-2 months of brisk walking experience is suggested before enrolling. Previous running or walking experience is not required, however, you must possess the ability to begin an aerobic exercise walking/running program. Walkers wanting to advance to running are welcome and encouraged.

For the walking class, you will begin by walking briskly for 30 minutes. The 5k running class will also start out walking for 30 minutes, but will add in 60 seconds of running every 5 minute interval. Each stage will incrementally decrease your walk time while safely increasing your run time. The stages are designed to increase your overall strength and endurance.

All classes also provide you with informative training workshops on:

Good Form Running, including a video gait analysis

Footwear, apparel and accessory

Sport-specific strength training

Nutrition, and more…
